MUSEUM ON MAIN ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
October 6th, 2026- Pleasanton, CA- The Museum on Main in Pleasanton has hired Kate Duggan as the new Executive Director to succeed Tony Cruz. Cruz left the museum in August.
Duggan will manage the museum’s day-to-day operations, staff development and revenue and fundraising goals, to alleviate the impact of recent city budget cuts. She will oversee the continuation and growth of the school and public education programs, including the Ed Kinney Series, Ghost Walk, exhibit-related lectures, and numerous school tours, senior center programs, and walking tours. She will be working closely with Ken MacLennan, the long-time Museum curator, over the next few months to learn more about upcoming exhibits and collections.
“Kate is a clear communicator and has a respect for the importance of our uniquely centralized museum as a cornerstone of the city. She has a positive attitude with solid ideas that will serve the full community,” said Linda Garbarino, president of the museum board of directors. Duggan has lived in Pleasanton since 2003 with her husband, Kevin, and two children. Kate’s love for the city and its historic downtown drew her to the many museum programs that will thrive under her leadership, Garbarino noted.
Before joining Museum on Main, Duggan worked in Volunteer Services at JFCS East Bay in Concord, and held several Marketing leadership positions at Shaklee Corporation, Albertsons Companies, and several other Bay Area companies focused on business to consumer marketing. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Syracuse University. “We are more than a museum,” Duggan states. “We are a schoolhouse, a Visitor’s Center, and a community hub. I look forward to working with our dedicated Board, committed volunteers and talented staff on programs and exhibits that educate and enrich our local communities on the Tri-Valley.”
For more information about current exhibits and programs, visit the Museum’s web site at www.museumonmain.org or call (925) 462-2766. The Museum on Main is located at 603 Main Street in historic downtown Pleasanton. It is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
